The Healing Potential of Qigong
Since 2014, Dr. Li has been a deep student of qigong.
She is also a certified teacher and healer.
Qigong is often described as a “moving meditation” or “embodied consciousness practice.” It is an integrated mind, body, spirit practice based on ancient healing and consciousness traditions from China, thought to have originated from indigenous practices.
Qigong is the foundation of martial arts, Traditional Chinese Medicine (acupuncture and herbs), and tai chi. A substantial body of scientific evidence supports its healing effects on the immune system, inflammation, bone density, cardiovascular disease, physical function, emotional wellbeing, among other improvements in quality of life.
There are hundreds of different lineages in qigong. Dr. Li has studied with master teachers in the lineage of Zhineng Qigong (zhi means wisdom, neng means ability), founded by Grandmaster Dr. Pang Ming in the early 1980s. Dr. Pang trained under many different grandmasters, studied both Western and Eastern medicine, and also mastered several forms of martial arts. His theories and practices aim to describe the laws of the universe and human life, informed by Confucianism, Daoism, Buddhism, medical qigong, martial arts, folk qigong, contemporary science, medicine, and philosophy. At its core is a sense of universal oneness. Through consciousness training, integrated movement, visualization, sound, and scientific theory, Zhineng Qigong offers a comprehensive system through which healing and intuitive awakening can arise in powerful ways.
Dr. Li’s teachers include Master Mingtong, Teacher Wei, and Teachers Ling and Lu (see resources below).
How to Awaken Your Inner Healer
…alongside my dietary changes, vitamins and herbs, and cleanses, I studied and practiced Zhineng (Wisdom Healing) Qigong for several years. I also knew the clinical evidence of the benefits of qigong and regularly prescribed it to my patients, many of whose lives were similarly enhanced.
Connect, Awaken, and Restore
In this 40-minute workshop, Dr. Li introduces some of the science related to qigong and guides a practice for any level (min 10:00-35:00).
